Description

A poorly-lit and out-of-focus photograph of the Holy Name Society convention's parade marching along a Boston street, as viewed from the West's hotel. The parade is viewed from an elevated perspective. The hotel's wall stretches vertically along the right edge in the foreground. A rail from the wall extends on an angle towards camera. Below, the parade marches through the street in the distance at left and center. The street passes through the image on an upward angle from the lower left corner to the right, disappearing behind the hotel wall. Large crowds of spectators line both sides of the street. At center, a few flag bearers march down the street. Other people appear to march behind them at right. Buildings on the opposite side of the street line the background. Four punched holes line the top edge at left. According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white. Per negative sleeve #2350, the West's stayed at the "Statler" while in Boston during their Eastern trip in October, 1947. This photograph was most likely taken from that location, Statler Hotel Boston (now Boston Park Plaza). Text from negative sleeve: 2335.
