Description
Image of a ship in full sail at the top of the ship's articles for the ship George Turner signed in 1861; contract between the Ship Master and the seamen signing on for service on a voyage including printed text with manuscript text inscriptions in ink and pencil including a listing terms of service, the names of sailors signed up for the voyage, and other pertinent information.
"Smith & Adams' Ballast and Shipping Office, 194 Commercial St., Boston. Wm. Smith, M. Adams. (Up Stairs.)"--text, top right of image. "It is agreed between the Master and Seamen, or Mariners, of the Ship George Turner of Portland whereof Frederick Geley is at present Master, or whoever shall go for Master, now bound from the Port of Boston to Buenos Aryes of and from thence to such port or ports as the Master may direct for a time of Twelve Calendar Months...." Acts and regulations regarding seamen's service and regulation of shipment on verso.
