Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph caption dated December 25, 1962 reads "Santa Claus distributes toys from a plane piloted by Bill Campbell of Van Nuys, to children at Desert Airpark in Palm Desert near Palm Springs. Campbell flew Santa from the North Pole to the desert. Balloons, carrying notes, were released over the desert, and the children receiving the notes took them to Santa to claim their Christmas gifts."
