Annotations/Markings: Signed "韓天壽" (Kan Tenju) with one seal at left edge below center. One additional seal at upper right corner. Two-line inscription reads "No Amida in the south / No Amida in the north; / South and North certainly exist / But there's no such thing [as Buddha?]" (trans. Stephen Addiss).
Medium: ink on paper
Biography/History: Artist also known as 中川天寿. Also Kan Tenju.
Acquisition: Addiss-Seo Nanga Collection; on long-term loan to the Ruth and Sherman Lee Institute for Japanese Art.
Funding: Digitization funded by an Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Leadership Grant (LG 30-02-0260-02) awarded to the University of California, Merced Library.
