Annotations/Markings: Signed with one seal at upper left corner. One additional seal in upper left quadrant preceding four-line poetic inscription. One additional seal at lower right corner.

Exhibitions: Exhibited: "Echoes of the Heart: An Exhibition of Japanese Literati Painting and Poetry" curated by Seunghye Sun, Ruth and Sherman Lee Institute for Japanese Art, January 2–March 30, 2002.
Biography/History: Kyōu was a leading pupil of Tanomura Chikuden.
Acquisition: Addiss-Seo Nanga Collection; on long-term loan to the Ruth and Sherman Lee Institute for Japanese Art.
Funding: Digitization funded by an Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Leadership Grant (LG 30-02-0260-02) awarded to the University of California, Merced Library.
