Ann Marie Darden and Ray W. Avins were taken into custody for the robbery of J. J. Newberry Store located at 18215 Sherman Way. Photograph of store manager suspects bound and gagged can be found by title "Holdup victim Daryl Carlson."
Photograph caption dated July 16, 1959 reads, "Questions robbery suspects. Jailer Al Santor, left, questions Ray W. Avins, 31, and his companion, Ann Marie Darden, 29, both suspects in Tuesday's $4,000 robbery of a Reseda store. With them at right is Det. Sgt. George W. Murphy, West Valley detective, who spotted the pair while patrolling with Officer Jim Austin along Ventura boulevard."
