Data from: Toward probabilistic post-fire debris-flow hazard decision support
This dataset consists of 5-minute precipitation accumulation for a 48-hour period for a simulation with 24-hour forecast lead time ahead of an impactful event. This simulation from the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model (Version 4.3) features 100 ensemble members for two storm events on a 1-km horizontal grid for a Southern California study area (see "Cartographic" section below). The selected storm events are: 1) 12 UTC 8 January 2018 to 12 UTC 10 January 2018, providing a 24-hour forecast leading up to the debris flow event that occurred at approximately 12 UTC 9 January 2018 on the Thomas Fire …

University of California Agricultural Cooperative Extension, San Joaquin County, Collection
At the turn of the previous century, growing concern over the quality of life for rural Americans prompted President Theodore Roosevelt to appoint a Commission on Country Life in 1908. One of the direct outcomes of the Commission’s recommendations was the passage of the Smith-Lever Act in 1914, which established a national extension service to place the knowledge generated at land-grant universities into the hands of farmers and rural citizens. The Agricultural Extension Service formalized and built upon existing efforts of land-grant universities to enhance the knowledge of farmers and apply scientific discoveries for improved agricultural practices. Beginning in 1913, …

Data from: Influence of Carbene and Phosphine Ligands on the Catalytic Activity of Gold Complexes in the Hydroamination and Hydrohydrazination of Alkynes
Through kinetic measurements, catalytic and stoichiometric experiments, as well as DFT calculations, we compare the catalytic activity of gold complexes supported by a variety of ligands (R3P, NHC, CAAC-5, CAAC-6, BiCAAC) in the hydroamination and hydro-hydrazination of alkynes. This study provides a rationale for the superior efficiency of a gold complex bearing a bicyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbene (BiCAAC). We demonstrate that this ligand motif, which is readily available, provides a durable gold catalyst able to compete with sophisticated state-of-the-art phosphine and NHC ligands, which feature secondary interaction capabilities.
