Franklin E. Murphy, M.D. Collection

About this Collection

Throughout his remarkable life, Dr. Murphy developed wide-ranging interests, but his link to the field of medicine remained constant. In 1975, with support from the Ahmanson Foundation, he established the Franklin E. Murphy, M.D. Fund for the History of Medicine in honor of his father. By providing a permanent endowment for the acquisition, conservation, and cataloging of materials related to the history of medicine, the fund helps ensure that the History and Special Collections Division of the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library can continue to build one of the preeminent collections of rare medical works dating from the fifteenth to the twentieth centuries.
